Floyd "Sherman" Morford 1921 - 2007

GREENSBURG- Floyd “Sherman,” Morford, 86,died March 5, 2007 at South Wind Hospice House, Pratt. Sherman was born on a farm near Greensburg January 25, 1921 to Joseph Allen and Della Criqui Morford. He graduated from Greensburg High School in 1938. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving his country from 1942-1945 during WWII in North Africa, Italy, and Brazil.
Sherman was a member of the First Christian Church, the Lion’s Club, American Legion, and VFW in Greensburg. At the time of his death he was serving on the Greensburg City Council. A life-long resident of Kiowa County, he was a farmer, rancher, and paint contractor. Previous employment included the Greensburg Locker Plant and Northern Natural Gas.
On November 24, 1945 he was united in marriage to Dorothy Isabelle Brown in Greensburg. She survives. Other survivors include, a daughter Sharman and husband Bill Thornton of Chanute; two sons, Quentin Morford and wife Shari of Hillsboro; Craig Morford and wife Brenda of Greensburg; sister, Ione Morford of Greensburg; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Elton, and his infant twin daughters, Carol and Sheryl.
